Davis® Foundations for Reading
Supporting Early Readers
Does your child find reading practice frustrating?
Are they just starting to explore letters, or hesitating with sight words?
Do they resist reading time, or struggle to stay focused?
It’s important to build a strong, positive foundation early. The Davis® Foundations for Reading Programme offers a gentle, engaging approach to help young learners (ages 5–7) build key pre-reading skills using methods that match their natural learning style. Our aim is to nurture confidence and enjoyment as children grow in their early literacy skills.
How the Programme works
The Davis® Foundations for Reading Programme supports young learners aged 5 — 7 as they:
-
develop recognition of letters and punctuation marks
-
build understanding and memory of key sight words
-
strengthen focus and balance through movement and play.
Our multisensory approach—using clay, movement, and interactive tools—makes learning fun, memorable, and suited to a variety of learning styles. We also place emphasis on early self-regulation: helping children feel calm, focused, and ready to learn.
Parents and caregivers play a key role throughout the programme. With dedicated support and guidance, you’ll learn how to continue using the techniques at home.
Imagine your child learning their letters and punctuation with clay!

Why It Works
This programme works especially well for creative, hands-on learners who benefit from visual and tactile experiences. It is designed to suit any learning style and helps prevent future frustration by getting things right from the start.
Rather than using repetition or flashcards, children model the meaning of words and symbols in clay—building lasting understanding in a way that’s both fun and effective.
Programme Format
The full programme is typically delivered in around 30 hours, with sessions lasting no more than 3 hours at a time. At least half the time involves parent or caregiver participation, so you can support and extend the learning at home.
Sessions can be provided in-person or online, depending on your needs.
